A Typical Morning

IMG_0537.JPG

Spring is the time where new things are birthed. The trees start to blossom. The flowers start to bud. This is also a time to start new habits or perhaps maintain new ones.

Having a morning routine adds some needed structure to my life. I’m already a naturally organized, structured person, but recently I’ve been really loving mornings and everything they bring to the day.

The first thing I do in the morning , upon waking is to read my Bible and pray.  The Word of God bring life and I can definitely feel the difference when I do not talk my Creator.

Make yo bed. Those little successes of the day help get you ready for a more productive day. I know everyone says to make your bed, but I really feel much better once I’ve made my bed.

Oil pulling. Oil pulling is an ancient method of swishing oil (sesame, coconut, or olive) in your mouth for between fifteen to twenty minutes on an empty stomach. I use olive oil because I’m not a huge fan of coconut. While improving your oral health, it in turn also improves your overall health. I have been oil pulling for that last 5 months without fail. I’ve since experienced whiter teeth and a more detoxified body.
After, oil pulling and brushing my teeth I usually make some fresh squeezed juice(I usually have 1 grapefruit, ½ orange, and 1 lemon) to help jump start my body and my metabolism.

Exercise. Becoming more fit is on everyone’s goal list and I’m no exception. I love exercising in the morning. By moving my body in the morning I find myself a bit more able to tackle the day, physically. Whether it be five to ten minutes of yoga or a simple stretch. I try to do something.

Writing. I love writing and I try to write something every morning. Though It might not always happen, that’s the intent. Writing for me is cathartic. A way for me to get out onto paper what’s in my head, allowing me to move onto more important things. I learned of a method of daily writing called “Morning Pages”, where you commit to writing at least three full pages of whatever is on your mind. Now, when I first started I didn’t think I could fill up three pages of thoughts but when I got into the groove of things I could have easily done way more than that. Commit to three pages, maybe not every day but try it, and see what happens.

Mornings are my favorite time of the day. The benefits from waking up a little earlier every day and establishing a routine will help to create a more productive day, week, month, year.

XO,

The Coronation (Tales of Tarsurella) Book 1: Review

This post is for The Coronation Blog Tour, of which I had the honor of being a part of. I hope you enjoy! The Coronation by Olivia Lynn Jarmusch is the first book in the Tales of Tarsurella series and it's about the European monarchy nation of Tarsurella undergoing a change of power from the current King to his son, Addison. As the whole nation is abuzz with preparations for this once in a lifetime event, the Royal family tries to balance work, family, and God.   The eight children that make up the Royal siblings-Addison, Bridget, Chasity, Hope, Asher, Jillian, Millie, and Willie, are all unique and delightful to read about. Their uniqueness brings them alive, and I feel a little like all of them.   The Point of View changes between the characters took a little getting used to, but in the long run really enhanced the reading experience, and I got a clear understanding of what was happening and the feelings of everyone. I do not usually cry while reading but I

Forgiveness

Forgiveness Something we all have to deal with in life. Whether you choose not to deal with it or to not deal completely with it, is something that keeps coming up in life. Unforgiveness can lead to bitterness which is a root cause for many fruit. Fruit like anger, abuse, self- esteem, and our view of the world. God has commanded us as Christians to forgive our neighbor because He forgave us. But, the thought of forgiving someone seems so unfair, like we are in someway condoning the negative actions of others, but in reality we are setting ourselves free from the prison that we have created for ourselves. When we don't forgive someone for the wrong that they have done we are hurting ourselves, by not letting go the anger and hatred that you may feel towards that person. I've been in church my whole life, and of course I heard dozens of sermons and talks about forgiveness. But nonetheless I spent the last four years angry at a particular person, and just when I felt like I
